MS Windows Cluster Single Cluster Group

$

Hi Experts

I am building a MS Server 2012 production cluster for my (A)SCS instances to be highly available. I have 4 ASCS and 3 SCS instances for a Solution Manager 7.1 SP12, ERP 6 EHP 7, PI 7.4 Dual Stack, Portal 7.4 and BW 7.4.

I have read the installation guide and understand SAP recommend placing each of these instances in to it's own cluster group with it's own IP address, Disk etc. I would prefer to have all of these (A)SCS instance installed in one cluster group with one IP address. I understand this will mean a failure on one will cause all of the resources to fail over. this is the configuration I currently have on one node in DEV and QAS.

My question is would this configuration be technically possible? if this configuration is technically possible would it be supported by SAP?

Thanks for your time.

SAP not starting on Windows 2012 - message server not responding

Hi gurus,

I have some strange problems with starting SAP ERP 6.0 on Windows 2012 OS with Oracle 11.2.0.4 database. Server is connected into domain, but SAP is installed as local administrator.

System was working untill today morning (at night was shutted down becase of maintenance)

First weird observation : After launching sapmmc is not asking for any credentials during system start or stop. Also starting/stopping system or even expanding list is very, very slow.

This is how it looks:

Second weird observation: Message server is running, but is not responding, so disp+work processes cannot start. Running with rdisp/TRACE = 2 parameter shows this kind of logs:

[Thr 3268] MsIAddAddr: add 0 [10.14.16.127] (HOSTNAME)

[Thr 3268] NiHLGetNodeAddr: found hostname 'localhost' in cache

[Thr 3268] NiIGetNodeAddr: hostname 'localhost' = addr 127.0.0.1

[Thr 3268] MsIAddAddr: add 1 [127.0.0.1] (LOCALHOST)

[Thr 3268] NiPGetNodeAddrListInit: use GetAdaptersAddresses implementation (03)

[Thr 3268] MsGetOwnIpAddr: my host addresses are :

[Thr 3268] NiHLGetHostName: found address 10.14.16.127 in cache

[Thr 3268] NiIGetHostName: addr 10.14.16.127 = hostname 's[xxxx]n13'

[Thr 3268]   1 : [10.14.16.127] socvn13 (HOSTNAME)

[Thr 3268] NiHLGetHostName: got address 127.0.0.1 from operating system

[Thr 3268] NiIGetHostName: addr 127.0.0.1 = hostname 'S[xxxxxx]13.domain.Net'

[Thr 3268]   2 : [127.0.0.1] S[xxxxxx]13.domain.Net (LOCALHOST)

Strange, because few lines earlier hostname is normally resolved to ip address attached to interface.

What can cause this problems? Ive double checked services file, modified several time hosts file, checked start and instance profile files... msmon connects to message server without any problem.

I tried also started with command line - no success. R3trans is working, niping result:

C:\Windows\system32>niping -v -H s[xxxxx]13

Hostname/Nodeaddr verification:

===============================

Hostname of local computer: S[xxxxx]13                          (NiMyHostName)

Lookup of hostname: S[xxxxx]13   (ALL UPPER CASE)                               (NiHostToAddr)

    --> IP-Addr.: 10.14.16.127

Lookup of IP-Addr.: 10.14.16.127                             (NiAddrToHost)

    --> Hostname: s[xxxxx]3 (ALL LOWER CASE)

Lookup of hostname: s[xxxxx]13  (lower case)                                (NiHostToAddr)

    --> IP-Addr.: 10.14.16.127

Lookup of IP-Addr.: 10.14.16.127                             (NiAddrToHost)

    --> Hostname: s[xxxxx]13 (lower case)

Maybe here is a problem, hostname is case sensitive? Also this result is strange:

C:\Windows\system32>niping -v -H localhost

Hostname/Nodeaddr verification:

===============================

Hostname of local computer: S[xxxxx]13                          (NiMyHostName)

Lookup of hostname: S[xxxxx]13                                  (NiHostToAddr)

    --> IP-Addr.: 10.14.16.127

Lookup of IP-Addr.: 10.14.16.127                             (NiAddrToHost)

    --> Hostname: s[xxxxx]13

Lookup of hostname: localhost                                (NiHostToAddr)

    --> IP-Addr.: 127.0.0.1

Lookup of IP-Addr.: 127.0.0.1                                (NiAddrToHost)

    --> Hostname: S[xxxxx]13.[domain].Net

Also, problematic logs from disp+work process:

Installing updated DBSL

Hi,

I updated the our version of SQL Server 2014 from evaluation to standard and now I need to update the DBSL in order to get disp+work.exe process to start. I am following the instructions here but cannot find the version of Netweaver without looking at the SAP GUI ....

Also to find the SAP kernel version is dispwork.exe in the CMD. This is an unrecognized command. I am currently logged into the VM as the eccadm and I'm guessing I need to be in sapadm to execute this command. But even though I add that user as admin or to the list of users who can use remote desktop, the system will not let me log in with the sapadm user.....

It is very urgent that I get this environment up and running and I need the help of someone that can assist me through these hurdles.

Many thanks in advance

SQL Server Enterprise

Hello,

You will see the fun I've had here and here - now that I know SAP only supports Enterprise editions of SQL Server I can't download a copy with my Microsoft Partner agreement.... Our SAP system is on a Vuze Windows 2012 R2 VM and the only option I see for deploying SQL Server Enterprise on Vuze is to create it as its own VM.

My question is - will I be able to point the SAP installation on "Y" VM to the SQL Server Enterprise edition installed on "X" VM. It would be nice if the ISO available on Vuze could be deployed on a VM that is already created....

I know this is more of a Vuze question I'm just looking for someone who has had experience configuring SAP on Vuze. Thanks in advance for any help

Thanks in advance for your kind response.

Dear Experts,

We are developing our system on Windows 7 and we are testing on the printer with Thai characters from SAP(GUI710 Patch 17).  On "Print Preview" everything looks fine but after printed there are some Thai characters (vowels) do not align correctly but it looks fine on Windows XP.  We have tested on the new GUI720 also but the same result shown.  Is there any way to solve this alignment problem?

Thank you in advance

MS Windows Cluster Single Cluster Group

Thanks for your time.

access to SQL server

Hi,

We have to access to SQL server 2012 but unfortunately we can't access with any of the users/passwords we have.

Do you know if it's possible to reset the SA password without having to access to the DB? Or some emergency steps we can follow in case we don't have any ohter users?

Thanks a lot, Sapera

SAP On Microsoft Windows Server and Oracle

Hello,

I need your help here,

Is it stable to run SAP On Microsoft Windows Server 2008 / 2012 with Oracle 11g / 12c database. I know Windows environment is prone to more security vulnerabilities than Linux so we might be exposed to more testing cycles each time patches are applied to Windows.

We want to understand What’s the stability of SAP applications running on Windows?

And  is it cost effective to go with Windows compared to Linux OS

If any of you running your SAP on Windows, how do you manage to apply OS Patches and how frequent?

Appriceate your resonse on this..

Thanks,
Guru

I have a client upgrading from ECC 5 to ECC 6.  They will be doing the upgrade while they are on Windows 2003 Servers and SQL Server DB 2005.

After the ECC Upgrade they plan to migrate to VM Ware running Windows Server 2008 and SQL DB 2008

How long should the migration take and what are the issues I need to watch out for?

Hello,

we have two batch jobs that automatically cancel every day on Quality and priduction servers.

SAP_REORG_UPDATERECORDS

Error:

Job started

Step 001 started (program RSM13002, variant SAP&001, user ID HELPDESK

Reorganization of update date not allowed in batch

Job cancelled

SAP_WP_CACHE_RELOAD_FULL

Job started

Step 001 started (program RWP_RUNTIME_CACHE_RELOAD, variant SAP&RELOAD_ALL, user ID HELPDESK)

No component system chosen

Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE

They seem to run for no more than 30 seconds and then cancel. I've checked SAP Notes, done various Google searches and tried many SAP help sites but have been unable to find anything relative to these batch jobs.

Thanks for any help you can offer,

Vinod
